The Raven

This movie is about Edgar Allen Poe.

I was real excited to see this movie because in my English class last semester, we read a lot of Edgar Allen Poe's, writings. The Raven, which is one of the more famous ones, along with about half of the ones in this movie. Someone has taken his works of fiction, murder and death, and turned them into a real crime. There is so much stuff I wouldn't catch if I were doing a investigation that these brilliant people do catch. Poe was a true artist, and was very intelligent. But this killer copied the stories so closely, and added clues along the way to find his beloved Emily. I also loved all the blood, and how they showed the murders.

I could see this movie at least 3 more times in theaters. I want to see things I didn't see before, now that I know who the killer/admirer is, I can focus on the background. The things you aren't supposed to realize until the end, when the secret is revealed.

See this movie if you have ever heard of Poe, or read anything he has ever written. All students in any English class, and any English teacher.

9/10

I just didn't really see how the ending credit scenes really went with the whole movie.

out Friday

Safe

There was a TON of action in this movie..maybe a little too much where there's so much going on you cant focus on one thing at a time, but over all there were some great fighting scenes! There was this one scene in the Hotel where Jason uses plates to throw at the bad guys..and that was probably one of my favorites. This movie was made by very smart people, there was a couple of very good/cool transitions, and a great eye for details.

Action movies aren't really my favorite, but this was a pretty good one.
I don't really have much bad things to say about this movie, expect Jason only had his shirt off for about 10 seconds >:(

The 5 year engagement

Funnier than I thought it would be.
I was disappointed that in the previews the little girl says "I'm Katniss" but in the movie she says "I'm Pocahontas" .. I was waiting for that and that's what I was looking forward to.
There is inappropriate scenes not for children and language. But this is a great movie for young adults and well anyone who isn't a child basically.
It was about 2 hrs but you didn't feel like you had to get up stretch .. the laughing loosens you up!
Its about a relationship and the sacrifice one must make to let the other one be the best they can be.

Hairspray (Dobson High School Play)

The BEST school play I've ever seen! Bravo!

Link played by the handsome Kyle Johnson. Penny played by the hilarious Brandy Reed. Amber played by the fantastic Whitney Reed. Tracy played by the amazing Cassidy Hilgers. Corny played by the great Ben Stapley. Seaweed played by the groovy Marcus Tipton. Inez played by the cute Kandice Tyler. Wilbur played by the goofy Conner Wanless. Velma played by the talented Alanna Kalbfleisch. And Edna played by the funny Jacob White!

I've never seen a school play thats been this good. The dances were fantastic. The songs were sung perfectly. And there was so much comedy, I was crying because I was laughing so hard. It is def. worth seeing. Great job Mr. Navarro!

Penny, was so funny I had to make myself watch the other amazing people on stage because everything she did was just hilarious! Amber, played by my friend Whitney, was great. I honestly didn't know whitney could sing and when she did..I was blown away. Brennan Dwyer who's Tammy, was so bubbly, and cheesy(In a good way) it just made the room feel brighter. Link was so charming, and soo cute I caught my self saying,"aww, he's so cute" but then I realized I was in a huge room filled with people, and I was probably louder than I hoped I was...and then it got awkward. Edna's fat suit was perfect ;). Its just an another masterpiece created by the students at Dobson High! Great job you guys, you ALL did amazing! I had a TON of friends that made this play what it is today. From the stage manager, all the way down to Amber Von Tussel.

Thank you to the stage crew, and the people behind the scenes that you don't see, for making the people on stage look great! Without you there wouldn't be a play! And that music! PERFECTION! Our band played the music so well, and perfectly they cant go unnoticed. Great set too!

All around it was an OUTSTANDING play, I have to watch it again!

Marley (on VOD)

Bob Marley is a really amazing person.

I knew of him, and if you showed me a picture I could tell you oh, that's Bob Marley.. if you told me to listen to a song I could probably tell you if its Bob Marley or not.

But after seeing this movie, I learned so much about him and now I really respect him. I understand why he had the locks, and why did drugs. He really had a love for music and uniting people. He was made fun of as a kid being half white and half black, he was never like anyone else in St. Anns in Jamaica.

I learned that he had 11 children from 7 different relationships. He was married but Rita Marley was more of a guardian and really looked after him, she loved him so she didn't care he wasn't faithful, well most of the time.

Bob Marley was truely someone amazing and someone I wish was still alive. He's such a powerful man, everyone looked up to him, followed him, and did what he did. He's so influential that I wouldn't be surprised if he ran for the ruler of Jamaica and won.

I have a new found respect for him. And I'm sad he had to die so young!

It would have been really cool to have him still here with us. He really made a difference in this world.

Movie out on VOD-video on demand!

Chimpanzee

Chimpanzee comes out on Earth Day. Its a DisneyNature movie, just like African Cats. Its about this chimp named Oscar. He lost his mother...the only thing he relied on to live. His story is really touching and its very crazy how close to chimps we REALLY are. They are so intelligent and almost helpless in some situations. Oscar learns how to start taking care of himself and not rely on his mother, who's not there to help.
Its a short movie on about an hour and 15 minutes, but its really heart touching. You learn a lot about these amazing animals that most people don't know much about. I've learned how they eat, what the do daily.
See ittt!!!!

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

This is a japanese movie that shows you have to be good at something and have a love for it. This guy Jiro has been on his own since hes been 9 years old. He's got one of the most famous sushi restaurants in Japan. This very old man is the most inspiring person I've ever seen. He's got two kids, both sons work in his sushi shops. There is a real art that goes along with making sushi and preparing and serving it, its really amazing! Jiro is always working always trying to improve on himself.
It shows in selected theaters only.
After this movie he really made me want to fly to japan so I could try his sushi that starts at 300000 yen! Which is like $370!! Lol

The Lucky One

so yeah.... i dont think Zac Efron can get any more cute!

This movie is about a marine and he finds this girls picture while hes in Iraq, and she ulimateley saved his life. so he goes out and tries to find this girl that saved him. after he finds he, he cant find the right words to say and doesnt ever really find the right words. I cried twice in this movie.... i always cry :'(

but Zac is gorgeoussss

oh i also LOVED the dog he had, and the little boy was very cute! very funny how the mom works part time at the school her son goes too, its a Montessori school( i went to one room preschool-6th grade.) one more thing, the lady from The Hunger Games, who sends out the mutts, and also brought the careers to Katniss, was in there too.

and its true... he does like to walk..he walks everywhere..

<3

its not one of those typical love stories that everything worked out perfect in the end... deff. not for the little boy, Ben, whos life was changed forever.

Pirates: Band of Misfits

This movie was made by the people who did "Chicken Run" so its clay-mated

I got to meet the director of the movie, and he showed me, personally, how they move the mouth and change all the face applications. Pirate Captain was about a foot and a half tall, but very fragile.

The movie was funnier than I thought it would be. Also claymation is not my favorite to watch on screen, but i felt like they did a wonderful job with this movie, ad had humor in there that kids wont get and the adults will pick up on but still have lots of funny moments for the kids as well.

i would suggest this movie to people with children because thats who this movies is geared towards, but if your older than id wait for redbox, or the dollar theater.

Lockout

I actually liked this movie

The beginning action scenes were very cartoonish almost like Speed Racer, which sorta bothered me. But it was cool to see how people think our future is like. Having a police station and prison in space.

Its about this "murderer" that is being sent in to save the presidents daughter after the inmates are released from their cells.

Its alright, and some scenes are unexpected but maybe wait till rad box to see this movie

Three Stooges

Sorry abouut the late review. Been in San Fran on class trip.

People have asked.. "are you really spending your time going and seeing that movie?" And of course I am, its a movie, and it actually looks funny!

Yes there was stupid comedy in there but there's supposed to be. And very funny sound effects. Like slaps and punches that are totally dramatized. But it made it funnier. There was comedy in there for adults too, which I enjoyed.

Also it had a pretty good story line and some unexpected celebs.

Some, maybe most, people won't like the stupid comedy, but you should see this movie if your bored and want to laugh

The Cabin in the Woods

So I cant really say very much about this without giving away the secret and story.
But this is a horror film, that I personally wasnt looking forward to seeing because scary and horror isnt my favorite genre. After I saw it, theres a perfect amount of comedy in it that lightens it and says, Hey we arent here to make a 'serious' horror movie like all the other ones, which i really appreciated. It had the scenes that make you think "Are you really that stupid?! Your really going into the basement?" but did it in such a funny way that most will appreciate!

Id actually love to see this movie again! See the things that I missed the first time! But once you see it, youll understand what I mean about not really being able to say much about the movie without ruining the movie!

This is basically all you can say about this movie:

"Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods."

But I got to meet and get the autograph of the writer and the director Drew Goddard today! Very cool, and tall man, and very funny!!

He really created something amazing here!
